Sixteen Bangladeshi workers killed in Riyadh factory fire

A fire at a sofa factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia resulted in the tragic deaths of sixteen Bangladeshi workers, according to Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry. The victims' bodies are currently being identified and will be returned home following their families' wishes, as stated in the ministry's recent statement. The factory fire took place in the Musa Sanaiya industrial area on Sunday, with Bangladesh's embassy in Riyadh promptly dispatching a delegation to the scene upon receiving news of the incident.

Once the identification process of the sixteen Bangladeshi citizens who perished in the fire is complete, the necessary arrangements will be made to bring their bodies back to Bangladesh, in accordance with the families' consent. With approximately three and a half million Bangladeshis residing in Saudi Arabia, the country remains the primary destination for Bangladeshi migrant workers. These workers have sent over $2.7 billion in remittances back to their home country last year.
