Selangor to develop ‘super app’ for local authorities

The Selangor government is set to create an integrated application, or super app, that will consolidate the services and complaint channels of the state's 12 local authorities. Chairman of the Selangor local government and tourism committee, Ng Suee Lim, emphasized that data security and confidentiality will be a top priority, ensuring that users' information remains secure and not misused.

The initiative aims to expedite and simplify public interactions by offering access to various PBT services through a single platform. Ng acknowledged receiving feedback from customers who found multiple applications confusing, and he expressed confidence that the proposed approach could be further refined. Data security and user privacy will be prioritized, with regular monitoring in place.

Vendors selected to develop and operate the super app will undergo thorough vetting to ensure only capable providers with a strong track record are chosen. Local authorities will continue to maintain counter services to assist those less digitally inclined, particularly senior citizens and residents in rural areas.
