PN seeks postponement of special sitting on TH RCI report

Perikatan Nasional, the coalition led by the United Malays National Organisation, has formally requested the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to delay tomorrow's special session of the Malaysian Parliament, scheduled to discuss the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Tabung Haji. The coalition's chief whip, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, made the request after receiving a letter from Johari's office today, stating that the sitting should be moved to a more appropriate date due to recent developments concerning Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's health.

Takiyuddin expressed hope that Anwar and Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof would make a swift recovery and return to their duties as usual. The coalition believes that it would be highly appropriate for the PM to personally present the RCI report, as the issue is of significant public interest and transparency. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently underwent a successful laparoscopic procedure for an abdominal hernia, while Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof is set to undergo heart bypass surgery on August 2.

The RCI report, which was made public on July 29 following a Cabinet decision, has been a topic of debate for years regarding the management of the Tabung Haji pilgrims' fund between 2014 and 2020.
