OnePlus Opens ColorOS Beta for 15 Series in India

OnePlus has initiated a closed beta for ColorOS 17 on its 15 series devices in India, indicating a shift away from OxygenOS and new considerations for IT departments. The program, open to a select group of 300 OnePlus 15 users, provides early access to the software for testing before wider release. Participants are required to use the Indian variant of the OnePlus 15, maintain a registered OnePlus Community account, agree to confidentiality, and join a Telegram group.

The beta, capped at 300 users, emphasizes stability concerns, advising testers to back up data due to potential crashes or compatibility issues. After upgrading, auto-update features like Experience Improvement Programs and Auto Update Overnight are enabled. The beta is also available for the OnePlus 15R, with the program limited to Indian devices.

OnePlus cites combining engineering resources with Oppo to accelerate updates as the reason for the transition, but has not detailed the impact on device management, settings, interfaces, or long-term update policies.
