Nine-year-old allegedly bullied at Kedah tahfiz school, father claims

A nine-year-old boy claims he was bullied by a 15-year-old student at his tahfiz school in Kedah, Malaysia. The victim's father, Syamsul Azrin Man, noticed bruises on his son's face after picking him up from the school hostel on July 30, for a week-long holiday. Initially, the boy said he had fallen, but later admitted that he had been punched by the older student the day before while wiping tables in the canteen.

The father also claims his son was kicked in the back, causing bruising. The father informed a religious teacher about the incident, but the teacher denied knowing about it. Upon further investigation, the father and his wife lodged a police report and took their son to the hospital for a medical examination. The boy is reportedly traumatized and does not want to return to school due to fear of the older bully.

Syamsul Azrin said that the school decided to dismiss their son, while the older student was only suspended. The Kota Setar District Police Chief, ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali, stated that the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and that the police have recorded a statement from the older student. They are awaiting the boy's medical report before taking any further action.
