'Missing crescent, star on Jalur Gemilang was unintentional' - Samsuri

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Jalur Gemilang flag installed at Dataran Batu Buruk, Kuala Terengganu, was found lacking its crescent and star symbols, but this was an unintentional occurrence, according to Terengganu Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar. He emphasized that the incident was isolated and unintentional, and his office will investigate to ensure it does not happen again, regardless of who was responsible for installing it.

The incident occurred despite the flag originally featuring the crescent and star symbols. MBKT Mayor Lizan Che Mat explained that the section of the flag where the symbols were stitched had become detached due to strong winds on that day. In response, the council removed the flag last Friday and replaced it with a new one. MBKT has decided not to stitch the symbols onto the flags themselves anymore, but will purchase fully assembled, perfect condition flags to prevent a recurrence.

This decision is also intended to ensure all Jalur Gemilang flags displayed are in good condition and meet the specified standards. The incident gained widespread attention on social media, prompting public discussion.
