Lions Give Tryout to Former Cowboys $97 Million All-Pro Cornerback

The Detroit Lions are considering a former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback for a tryout, as they seek to bolster their secondary before the upcoming season. The player in question, Trevon Diggs, signed a $97 million contract with the Cowboys and was twice named a Pro Bowler before his career took a downward turn due to injuries and a concussion mystery.

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro, joined the Cowboys as a 2020 second-round pick out of Alabama and became a feared ball hawk, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2021 and a second Pro Bowl in 2022. However, injuries, particularly a knee and head issues, significantly impacted his performance, leading to just eight games played in his final season with Dallas.

After being released by the Cowboys, Diggs bounced around the league, spending time with the Packers before being waived again. The Lions, who released a cornerback named Terrion Arnold this offseason, are now exploring Diggs as a potential nickel and dime option to complement D.J. Reed.
