Kerala Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan demands government job for rescue worker Rajesh’s wife

Kerala's Leader of the Opposition, Pinarayi Vijayan, has called for the government to provide a job to the wife of R. Rajesh, a 36-year-old rescue volunteer who died while aiding in flood relief efforts at Cherupuzha in Kannur. During a media visit to Rajesh's residence in Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan emphasized that the government should also address the needs of the family, including Rajesh's two children.

He referenced past models of support from other state governments in similar circumstances and urged the government to take similar actions. Additionally, Vijayan reiterated his previous concerns over the handling of Rajesh's body, which allegedly decomposed during transport from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram due to the government's failure to provide an ambulance with a mobile freezer.

This incident, according to Vijayan, demonstrated a lack of respect for the volunteer who risked his life to save others from the floodwaters.
