Kenya: Gachagua to Expose Ruto's Failures in Four-Year Scorecard

Nairobi — Former Vice President Rigathi Gachagua is set to announce a political critique of President William Ruto's first four years in office, highlighting what he claims are the administration's shortcomings and the harm it has inflicted on Kenyans before the 2027 General Elections. During a visit to Narok East Constituency, Gachagua announced his intention to deliver a speech evaluating Ruto's performance and explaining why he believes the President should not be re-elected.

He declared, "Tomorrow, I will address the nation about what work Ruto has done in four years and the harm he has caused Kenyans." Gachagua stated that the campaign to remove Ruto from power had already commenced, emphasizing that Narok East marked the beginning of the political push. In his upcoming address, Gachagua plans to focus on economic hardships, poor governance, insecurity, and alleged abuses of state power under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He has previously accused the government of failing to act on death threats against Mt Elgon parliamentary candidate Nathan Wasama, who was subsequently killed. Gachagua alleged that Wasama had reported the threats to the police five times without any response, and that the authorities did not take action. He accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, of being used to cover up the murder and suggested that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen was protecting the individual who allegedly threatened Wasama.

Gachagua further claimed that instead of arresting and questioning the person, six police Land Cruisers were sent to the individual's home to provide security. These allegations have not been independently verified.
