I now have three wives after adding another, says Kano mass wedding beneficiary

Dantani Aruba, a beneficiary of the Kano State Government's mass wedding initiative, shared his joy after adding another wife to his family during the ceremony on Saturday. The mass wedding, organized by the Kano State Government under Governor Yusuf Abba, aimed to help those who could not afford the cost of marriage. Aruba, who now has three wives, expressed happiness about the financial relief the initiative provided.

The program, known as Auren Gata, targets low-income individuals, including widows, widowers, divorcees, spinsters, and bachelors. The government has sponsored the wedding of 1,500 couples, covering dowry, empowerment support, and household items. Each couple is entitled to these benefits, including furniture and food items, to help them establish their homes.

The Auren Gata program, introduced in 2012, has expanded over the years to accommodate more beneficiaries in response to growing demand, including those in polygamous marriages.
