Ferrari Monza worth £3.7m among 90 vehicles confiscated in London supercar crackdown

Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bentleys were among 90 vehicles taken off the road by London police during a weekend crackdown on antisocial driving. The seizure netted over £8 million worth of vehicles in Hyde Park and Kensington and Chelsea. International drivers without proper UK documentation were targeted, with the most expensive supercar being a £3.7 million Ferrari Monza SP2.

Its driver had only been in the car for 30 minutes when stopped for driving without insurance and a provisional licence. Police cited a lack of awareness around licensing and policy requirements as a factor in unsafe driving practices. The operation, employing 120 officers, was the largest in five years. Previous seizures included £7 million worth of luxury vehicles last summer, with eight arrests.

Special Chief Inspector Geoff Tatman emphasized the operation's aim to keep roads safe and send a message against reckless driving. Angus Eaton of the Motor Insurers’ Bureau stressed that vehicle rules apply to all motorists, regardless of value. The operation also led to arrests for unrelated crimes, including handling stolen goods and suspected immigration offences.

Deputy leader Caroline Sargent of Westminster City Council noted the disruption caused by reckless drivers, especially during summer months, causing risk to people and nuisance for residents and businesses.
