Dinesh Trivedi meets Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman in Dhaka, R&AW chief there for security talks

Dinesh Trivedi, the Indian High Commissioner, met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka on Monday, amid tensions over the extradition of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The meeting took place as a top-level Indian intelligence and security delegation led by R&AW chief Parag Jain arrived in Bangladesh.

Rahman's office expressed hope that India would expedite Hasina's extradition, as she faces a death sentence in Bangladesh and her Awami League party has been banned. Hasina had addressed the media in New Delhi via audio link, stating her intention to return to Bangladesh potentially in December. The meeting aimed to address key bilateral issues and create a conducive environment for advancing relations between the two countries.

Rahman emphasized the importance of a friendly relationship, stating that their shared dreams and aspirations should guide their discussions. Trivedi expressed optimism about finding solutions to issues between the two nations through people-to-people interactions.
