Defence special Prosecutor's Office serves 488 people with suspicion notices in 384 criminal cases since start of year – Prosecutor General

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for defense sector cases has notified 488 individuals of their suspected involvement in 384 criminal cases since the beginning of the year. These cases primarily revolve around financial and mobilization risks, including military procurement, payments to service members, corruption during mobilization, and illegal border crossings.

The Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, reported that 530 indictments have already been sent to court. Kravchenko revealed that the office has identified UAH 3.9 billion in irregularities within the procurement sector, with UAH 554.9 million already reimbursed to the state and local communities. In 59 instances, 132 individuals received suspicion notices, resulting in 86 indictments filed.

Large losses were recorded due to illegal payments and embezzlement of military personnel's pay, with over UAH 251.6 million attributed to combat allowances paid to those who did not serve. In 117 cases, 173 individuals were notified of suspicion, leading to 221 indictments. The largest illicit gains, amounting to UAH 174.6 million, were made through combat allowances.

In 82 cases, 131 individuals were notified of suspicion, resulting in 148 indictments filed. Cases involving fictitious medical exemptions, illegal deferrals, and aiding in evasion of military service also contributed to the illicit gains, totaling approximately UAH 23 million. The Prosecutor's Office has also filed 356 lawsuits totaling UAH 44.9 billion in cases related to illegally appropriated land, property, and other defense-related assets, with 187 claims worth UAH 36.3 billion granted by the courts.
