Crownsville: Read the Entire First Issue of the Oni Press Horror Series

Oni Press has released the entire first issue of the horror comic series Crownsville, written by Rodney Barnes and illustrated by Elia Bonetti. This five-issue limited series explores the dark history of Crownsville Hospital, an all-Black psychiatric institute founded at the turn of the 20th century outside of Annapolis, Maryland. The hospital, notorious for its overcrowding, neglect, and rumors of patient abuse and illegal medical experiments, was ultimately closed.

The first issue delves into a mysterious death inside the abandoned hospital, initially ruled as a suicide. Annapolis police detective Mike Simms and journalist Paul Blair are tasked with investigating further, uncovering the true horrors that once occurred within the walls of Crownsville and the connection to the spirits of the deceased still trapped within. The trade paperback, featuring cover art by Andrea Sorrentino, will be available for purchase on August 11 through Amazon.
