Former Canada defender Moscato named next head coach of NSL’s Ottawa Rapid FC

OTTAWA - Carmelina Moscato, a former Canadian women's national team defender, has been appointed as the head coach of Ottawa Rapid FC for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, the club announced on Monday. Moscato, who will join the Northern Super League club later this year, will take over from Katrine Pedersen after the current NSL campaign.

The 42-year-old Toronto native will prepare for the 2027 season before officially starting her role with Ottawa Rapid FC. Moscato will replace Pedersen, who announced her departure from the club on July 17 and will continue to coach the team through the remainder of the regular season and any playoff run. Moscato represented Canada in 94 matches and was part of the team that won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.

Prior to her coaching career, she served as the manager of women's professional football development for Canadian Soccer Business from 2019 to 2020. Moscato has been inducted into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame and has coached in Denmark, Mexico, the United States, and Saudi Arabia.
