College Football Coach Taunts Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed

Reed had managed to secure the starting role from Conner Weigman by the close of the 2024 schedule, leading to Weigman's subsequent transfer to Houston.

As the primary starter for the 2025 season, Reed guided Texas A&M to a significant win against Notre Dame in Week 3, and the team remained undefeated until the conclusion of the regular season against Texas.

Reed's performance suffered during the game against Texas, culminating in a 27-17 defeat, which prevented the Aggies from participating in the SEC championship and securing a first-round bye in the CFP. This setback dashed the Aggies' hopes of a perfect season. Later, Reed faced Miami's defense, where he threw for 237 yards and two interceptions in a 10-3 loss to the Hurricanes.

An SEC coach pointed out Reed's struggles against Texas and Miami, primarily attributing them to the zone defense and the team's emphasis on stopping the run. Another SEC defensive coordinator elaborated on Reed's difficulties when facing such tactics, suggesting that Reed may not be a traditional quarterback. Despite this, Reed remains confident in his role as a true quarterback, as confirmed by an SEC coach.

He stated that Reed is determined to maintain his perspective. The coach also noted that while Reed may not enjoy running, when he does, it is the most challenging part. Reed led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns during the previous season, contributing significantly with 493 yards and six touchdowns. During a game against LSU, when Reed struggled with interceptions, he made up for it by rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in a 49-25 victory at Tiger Stadium.
