BREAKING: GoPro’s first mirrorless camera will debut in September – and GoPro has just revealed new details about the Mission 1 Pro ILS

GoPro's first mirrorless camera, the Mission 1 Pro ILS, will be revealed in September, according to GoPro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman. During an investor update, Woodman confirmed the timeline and provided new details about the camera's features. The Mission 1 Pro ILS will come with a new app called the GoPro Mission Monitor App, available on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad.

This app will provide pro-grade monitoring tools, allowing users to preview and monitor footage from the upcoming mirrorless camera. Woodman stated that the Mission 1 Pro ILS supports over 300 Micro Four Thirds lenses, along with GoPro's HyperSmooth video stabilization. This combination of HyperSmooth stabilization and a range of lens options in a compact, durable 8K camera body has generated significant excitement within the industry.

The camera houses the same 50MP one-inch sensor as the existing Mission 1 Pro, offering 8K30p, 4K120 open gate, with potential increases to 8K60 and 4K240 without open gate. However, the ILS model features a Micro Four Thirds mount, resulting in a 3x crop factor. The camera is manual focus only, targeting run-and-gun filmmakers and cinema creators who require a mountable rig with swappable lens capabilities.

While the exact arrival date for the ILS beyond "September" has not been shared, the new camera is set to launch next month.
