Atletico’s Simeone ready to rely on Lee Kang-in’s versatility

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is confident in the ability of new South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in to adapt to various roles on the pitch, according to Yonhap News Agency. Lee joined the Spanish club from Paris St-Germain in late July and made his debut during a pre-season match against Manchester City at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday.

The coach observed Lee during his first in-match appearance, noting that the versatile player had opportunities to shoot and set up teammates. Simeone highlighted Lee's ability to play on the wing, in tight spaces between opposing midfield and backlines, and as a second striker, depending on the team's needs. Although Atletico lost the match 3-1, Simeone expressed satisfaction with Lee's performance.

The coach explained that Lee had been training independently in Seoul prior to the match, which limited his opportunity to integrate with his new teammates. Simeone emphasized that developing a rhythm is crucial for players in matches, and this applies to all players, not just Lee Kang-in.
