About 15km of inner roads completed ahead of Suame Interchange construction – Urban Roads DG

The Director-General of the Department of Urban Roads, James Oduro Amoo-Gottfried, has reported that around 15 kilometers of inner roads in the Suame area and its vicinity are now complete. This progress is aimed at facilitating traffic diversion as construction of the Suame Interchange begins. Amoo-Gottfried stated that while some of these roads are not yet finished, those that are completed will help alleviate traffic congestion and provide alternative routes during the construction period.

He addressed this during a meeting with traders prior to the start of the first phase of the Suame Interchange project. The Director-General requested traders and residents in the project's right-of-way to voluntarily leave the affected areas so that the construction can occur without delays. He also assured those affected by the road construction markings that the Assembly is working on compensation.

The Director-General appealed for public support, emphasizing the critical role it plays in ensuring the timely completion of the interchange. Attendees at the meeting expressed their readiness to cooperate, acknowledging that the land they operate on belongs to the government. However, some traders urged the government to provide alternative spaces for them to continue their businesses after vacating the affected areas.
