Pune SIR: 25 Lakh marked absent, shifted, dead or duplicate

In the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Pune District, over 25 lakh names in the voter roll were marked as probable absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate (ASDD) as of August 10, according to data accessed by The Indian Express. The District Election Branch published the list of voters marked ASDD till August 4 on its website, urging citizens to verify if their names and EPIC numbers have been wrongly included.

A total of 88.08 lakh out of 90.80 lakh SIR enumeration forms were distributed to voters by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the district, with 97% of the forms being digitized and 25.20 lakh voters (27.76%) marked ASDD. Shivajinagar Assembly Constituency had the highest ratio of ASDD voters at 44.84%, followed by Hadapsar (44.35%), Khadakwasla (41.30%), and Vadgaon Sheri (40.67%). The lowest ASDD voter ratio was recorded in Baramati Assembly Constituency at 8.98%.

The Deputy Collector Minal Kalaskar appealed to citizens to check the ASDD list and confirm that their names are not mistakenly present. If a name was found to be wrongly included, citizens were advised to reach out to their BLOs for rectification. The list of ASDD voters can be accessed on the Pune District Collectorate website, where separate PDFs for each Assembly Constituency are available.

Citizens can open the relevant PDF for their constituency and search for their EPIC number using CTRL+F (Windows) or CMD+F (Apple). If the EPIC number is found, it might indicate a duplicate entry that has been correctly marked for deletion. The form distribution and verification phase of SIR is set to end on August 17, with the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on August 24.

Voters can file claims and objections until September 23, with hearings and disposal of claims and objections taking place until October 22, leading to the final electoral roll publication on October 27.
