Troops rescue 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara

In a recent operation, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 33 passengers who had been kidnapped by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The incident occurred in the Magazu area of the local government. According to a statement from Lt Col Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the JTF North West, the rescue took place on Saturday after the troops received credible information about the abduction.

The troops collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force and swiftly moved to the area upon receiving the report. They encountered the terrorists as they were attempting to move the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location. The troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, causing them to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Following the successful rescue, the troops conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area to track down the escaped terrorists. The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the troops for their quick response and professionalism, which ensured the safe evacuation of the victims without any casualties. The commander emphasized the operation's commitment to safeguarding civilians, preventing terrorists from gaining freedom of action, and protecting major transportation routes in the North-West.

The military urged the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with any credible information regarding the activities and movements of terrorists and other criminal elements.
