Army rescues 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara

Operation FANSAN YAMMA, a joint task force in North West Nigeria, has rescued 33 passengers who were kidnapped by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The rescue operation took place on August 8, according to a statement from the media information officer of JTF North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt-Col Aliyu Danja.

The passengers were being transported through the Magazu area when the terrorists abducted them. Lt-Col Danja revealed that the security forces were alerted about the abduction and immediately deployed troops and police personnel to the area. The troops and police engaged the terrorists during the relocation of the abducted passengers to an unknown location.

The security forces successfully forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bushes. No casualties were reported as the troops secured and rescued all 33 abducted persons without incident.
