Soldiers rescue 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara

On August 8, soldiers of the Joint Task Force North-West (JTF North-West) rescued 33 passengers who had been kidnapped by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The rescue operation was launched after troops received information about the abduction of commuters traveling through the Magazu area of Tsafe. Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of JTF North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, revealed the details in a statement on Sunday.

Danja explained that troops from Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force stationed in Tsafe, were alerted to the incident in the late afternoon. Acting swiftly, the troops approached the location, engaged the terrorists, and forced them to abandon the kidnapped passengers. The terrorists fled into the surrounding bushes. The soldiers then secured and rescued all 33 victims without any casualties, according to Danja.

The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA expressed appreciation for the troops' prompt response and professionalism, emphasizing the theatre's commitment to protecting civilians, denying terrorists freedom of action, and safeguarding key transportation routes in the North-West. The military urged the public to remain vigilant and provide accurate information about the actions and movements of terrorists and other criminal elements to the security forces.
