Soldiers rescue 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara

Soldiers of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 33 passengers who were kidnapped by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The rescue operation was initiated after receiving information about the abduction of commuters traveling through the Magazu area of Tsafe.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of JTF North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, made this announcement in a statement on Sunday. Danja reported that troops from Sector 2, along with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force stationed in Tsafe, received the distress signal in the late afternoon of August 8. Upon arrival at the scene, the troops engaged the terrorists, who were already in the process of moving the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.

Through effective use of force, the terrorists were forced to abandon the victims, who were subsequently rescued by the troops. The rescued passengers were then secured and provided with necessary assistance. Danja added that the troops are continuing their efforts to track down the fleeing terrorists. The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the troops' prompt response and professionalism, which ensured the safe rescue of the passengers without any casualties.

The military urged the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information about terrorist activities and criminal elements to the security forces.
