Singer-Songwriter Prateeksha Srivastava On Indie Rise: 'I Wanted To Bring A Woman’s Point Of View On Love'

Prateeksha Srivastava, a finalist on the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2009 reality show, has recently released her latest single, Sajna Ve. The singer's voice is known for its grace and grit, and her collaboration with Sunidhi Chauhan on Aankh went viral, making her an artist to watch out for. Prateeksha began her musical journey at the age of three with classical training under her parents and mentors. Her work includes a Bollywood release, Mila Tujhe, and an energetic Coke Studio Bharat track, Holi Aayi Re.

In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Prateeksha discussed her new single and its personal, intimate lyrics that give a woman's point of view on love. She revealed that Sajna Ve is inspired by modern-day women who take the initiative and make the first move in their relationships. She also shared the storyline and concept behind the music video, which was created based on the song's theme and set in her hometown, Lucknow.

Prateeksha's EP Tiny Truths, released in September 2025, explored deeply personal themes through three songs. Each song delves into a different aspect of love – stable and mature love, pure and human college romance, and the struggle of becoming an obstacle to one's own growth. As for her career as a lyricist and singer, Prateeksha finds that being both roles is part of her artistic identity.

She mentioned that the success of her previous collaborations, such as Aankh, Khayaal, and Tu Saamne, helped her secure opportunities in the industry.

Looking ahead, Prateeksha sees a shifting narrative for women in music in India, with more opportunities and recognition for their unique perspectives.
