Rybakina, Gauff advance to Toronto quarter-finals

Canadian Open quarter-finals were secured by Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff on Sunday. The Kazakh tennis star overcame Russian opponent Liudmila Samsonova in a grueling three-set battle, lasting 2 hours and 49 minutes. Gauff, meanwhile, swept aside Russian qualifier Alina Korneeva in straight sets.

Rybakina, down two breaks in the third set, staged a remarkable comeback to advance. She will face either Naomi Osaka or Leylah Fernandez in the next round. Gauff, for her part, earned her first quarter-final appearance in Toronto since 2023. She showcased absolute mastery, winning all 12 break points she forced, though she lost all three against her opponent.
