PFIPC scandal: ADC, APGA chieftain reject ICPC probe report

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chieftain, Chekwas Okorie, have criticized the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) interim report on the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The opposition parties demand an independent investigation into the workings of the PFIPC within government structures.

The ADC described the ICPC's findings as "predictable and inadequate," accusing the Federal Government of prioritizing political damage control over uncovering the full circumstances surrounding the scandal. The party highlights that the alleged PFIPC received privileges typically reserved for legitimate government institutions, including office space, civil servants, official vehicles, security support, and a N1.3bn budget allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

The ADC questions how such provisions could have been made without proper documentation and verification, suggesting that the larger issue lies in the systemic criminality of the administration.
