PFIPC scandal: ADC, APGA chieftain reject ICPC probe report

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chieftain, Chekwas Okorie, have dismissed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission's (ICPC) interim report on the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). They are calling for an independent investigation into the operations of the alleged fake council within government structures.

The ADC described the ICPC findings as "predictable and inadequate," accusing the federal government of being more interested in containing political damage than uncovering the full circumstances of the scandal. The opposition party questioned how the PFIPC, which allegedly enjoyed several privileges normally reserved for legitimate government institutions, managed to secure office space within the federal secretariat complex, employ civil servants, receive official vehicles, and obtain N1.3bn in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

They also raised concerns about a forged appointment letter allegedly signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and demanded that investigators identify those who approved the N1.3bn allocation and verified the PFIPC's existence.
