Magara: We are building team to send Arati home in 2027

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Omingo Magara revealed political consultations are underway to form a team aiming to defeat Kisii Governor Simba Arati in the 2027 General Election. Magara disclosed that a growing political alliance involving former Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and Senator Richard Onyonka is focusing on assembling a formidable team to make Arati a one-term governor.

The ultimate goal is for the team to ensure normalcy returns to the country. Magara mentioned he could also run for governor, eliciting laughter from his audience. The emerging team is part of a broader political formation under the Jubilee Party and former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, with the aim of making both Arati and President William Ruto one-term leaders.

The alliance could change the dynamics of the upcoming 2027 Kisii gubernatorial contest, which already has several contenders vying for the top seat. Magara emphasized the importance of discussions still in the early stage and cautioned against rushing to assign positions within the proposed political alliance. He also condemned growing political violence in Kisii, urging leaders to reject goonism and ensure politics remain focused on ideas and development without intimidation, threats, or violence.
