Lawyers want probe after puppy allegedly run over twice

An animal rights group has called for a police investigation into a disturbing incident in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, where a pick-up truck allegedly ran over a puppy twice at a parking lot. Rajesh Nagarajan, representing Lawyers for Animal Rights, detailed how a white Mitsubishi Triton first collided with the puppy as it entered the parking bay, and then reversed over it again, causing the animal's death.

He asserted that the case is more than just negligence or an accident, citing the vehicle's repeated act of hitting the same animal. Nagarajan urged the authorities to investigate under pertinent sections of the Animal Welfare Act, focusing on cruelty and causing unnecessary suffering. The Malaysian animal welfare group stressed the importance of securing CCTV footage from the scene before it's overwritten, locating the suspect, and obtaining a veterinary forensic report to determine the puppy's cause of death.
