Kano Catholic Diocese disowns ex-seminarian, warns against ‘Divine Solution Ministry’

The Catholic Diocese of Kano has formally disavowed an ex-seminarian named Peter Umeanuka, who allegedly presents himself as an ordained Catholic deacon while running a prayer ministry in Kano's Sabon Gari district. The Diocese issued an official disclaimer on August 7, 2026, claiming Umeanuka operates a ministry known as Divine Solution Ministry at No. 80 Onitsha Road, Sabon Gari, despite never being formally ordained.

According to the Diocese, Umeanuka was once a seminarian at Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Emir Road, before being asked to cease his studies due to unresolved psychological issues. The Church asserts that Umeanuka now dons clerical attire, claims to be an ordained deacon, and uses a sacred vessel called a monstrance to bless attendees at his ministry.

The Diocese emphasized that Umeanuka never received the necessary ordination and that it has no affiliation with the Divine Solution Ministry or its operations. The Church officially distanced itself from the ministry's activities and warned that it would not bear responsibility for any harm that may befall Catholics who engage with the ministry.

The Diocese advised individuals involved with the ministry or dealing with Umeanuka to proceed at their own peril.
