Iran to release more footage of Supreme Leader as health rumours intensify

Iran is set to release additional footage of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei as rumors about his health intensify. The footage will feature Khamenei "among the people and out in the streets, as well as in meetings with the commanders of the armed forces," according to a senior Basij official. Khamenei has not been seen publicly since he assumed the role in March, following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian state media also published an undated video purportedly showing Khamenei, though its authenticity remains unverified. The release of the footage comes amid growing speculation over Khamenei's health and ability to govern. Senior Iranian sources have suggested he suffered injuries during the February 28 US and Israeli air strikes on Iran, with a recent report indicating some officials believe his condition may be critical.

Questions over Khamenei's health and condition have been fueled by conflicting reports about President Masoud Pezeshkian's access to him. Despite these concerns, Iranian state media reported that Pezeshkian met with Khamenei in late July to discuss military affairs and the economy.
