Indian-origin woman found dead in Canada, her partner is arrested for murder 7 months later

Abdul Ghafoori, a 32-year-old man, has been arrested in Toronto and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Indian-origin woman Himanshi Khurana, according to Toronto Police. Police received a missing-person report on December 19, 2025, from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area, leading them to discover Khurana's body the next morning in a residence.

The police classified her death as a homicide and launched a homicide investigation, identifying Ghafoori as a suspect and issuing a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest. The High Commission of India in Ottawa expressed their shock and condolences to Khurana's family and stated that they are closely coordinating with local authorities and providing support.
