Border Guard in Jazan arrests 9 Yemenis, Ethiopians for smuggling 180 kg of khat

In the Jazan region of Saudi Arabia, border guards have apprehended nine individuals of Yemeni and Ethiopian descent. They were found guilty of attempting to smuggle 180 kilograms of khat, a narcotic plant, into the Kingdom. The security personnel conducted land patrols in the Al-Dayer sector and made the arrest as part of their efforts to maintain border security regulations.

Once the legal procedures were finalized, the detainees and the seized khat were handed over to the appropriate authorities. The authorities have emphasized the importance of citizens and residents reporting any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking activities. They can do so by calling specific hotlines in various regions or by emailing the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. All reports will be handled confidentially, and the informants will not face any liability.
