Aussie high jumper wins gold at under-20 world titles

Australian high jumper Izobelle Louison-Roe claimed gold at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a jump of 1.92 metres, adding to the silver she won in Lima during the 2024 championships. She was the leading under-20 jumper heading into the competition, having twice hit a personal best of 1.95 metres. Hungary's Lilianna Bátori took silver and Spain's Aitana Alonso won bronze, both jumping 1.90 metres.

Louison-Roe described the victory as "one of the moments of my life" and "an incredible feeling when I won." The country's men's 4x400m relay team secured silver, placing second behind the United States with a time of 3:31.39. However, both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams fell short of a medal, finishing fourth. Kieran Shepherd and Milla Roberts secured eighth and fourteenth places in the 1,500m events, respectively.
