Terror infiltration alert triggered after stolen car breaches West Bank checkpoint

A suspected terrorist infiltration alert was triggered in the West Bank settlement of Ofarim on Saturday morning. The incident occurred after a driver of a stolen vehicle breached a checkpoint during a police chase and subsequently fled the scene. IDF troops engaged in firing at the fleeing suspect, who was eventually apprehended.

The military stated that they are maintaining continuous communication with residents and security officials in the area. In the preceding days, Home Front Command alerts were issued in the West Bank settlements of Tel Zion and Kochav Yaakov, warning of a suspected terrorist infiltration. These alerts were lifted less than an hour later, as no security incident was detected.

IDF troops conducted searches overnight around Kibbutz Zikim near the Gaza border following a report of a damaged perimeter fence by the community's security coordinator. No suspects were found, and the military could not determine when the fence had been cut. Troops continued their searches to rule out any unusual incidents. Surveillance footage was reviewed, and the military reported no indication of anyone crossing from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

Nearly two hours after the alert was issued, residents were allowed to resume their normal routines. The IDF subsequently confirmed that the searches had been completed and the incident had been resolved, stating that there is no concern of a security incident.
