Izzah cuti tak jejas operasi PKR, kata Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of a temporary leave for Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar, as reported by PKR Communications Head Fahmi Fadzil, did not undermine the party's operations or functions. Instead, the party's activities continued smoothly as usual. Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has been given the mandate to temporarily handle the responsibilities and duties of this role.

The Central Management Committee (MPP) does not accept the vacancy of Nurul Izzah, instead, it only allows her request for a leave to focus on personal matters and continue her PhD studies. Nurul Izzah remains a party member and will continue to assist the party in its struggle, she also stated that she is a Communications Minister during a media briefing after attending the Internet Safety Convention Malaysia Kuala Lumpur.

Regarding the speculation that Wong Chen will vacate the Subang parliamentary seat, Fahmi emphasized that he currently does not have any information about this matter and it is subject to a formal announcement by the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Johari Abdul. Earlier, media reported that Chen had expressed his desire to vacate the seat during his meeting with Johari, which is expected to be announced on Monday.

Concerning the General Election (GE) being held earlier, Fahmi clarified that there are no plans for this time and the government anticipates the GE to be held later this year. He stated that the current focus of the federal government is to ensure the smooth running of administration, while appreciating the commitment of constituent coalition partners who continue to support Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim until the end of his term.
