Eight dead in mass shooting in Thailand. Here's how it unfolded.

A tragic mass shooting unfolded in Thailand, leaving eight individuals dead and prompting calls for stricter gun control laws. The incident began early Friday morning when a 14-year-old teenager killed his grandparents in their two-story house on the outskirts of Bangkok. Police reported that the gun used in the shooting belonged to the grandfather, who had left it within reach.

The teenager then proceeded to his school, Debsirin Nonthaburi School, using regular school transport. His classes started at 8:30am and 9:20am. Halfway through his second class, the gunman emerged from the corridor, opening fire. Three teachers were among the first victims, followed by two other staff members killed on a staircase.

By 9:57am, emergency services were alerted to the shooting. Students reportedly fled the school in their socks or bare feet. Police cleared the building, eventually discovering the shooter on the fourth floor, where he had taken his own life. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the school to assess the situation, describing the scene as chaotic and expressing deep sorrow for the victims.

He emphasized that the incident was a terrible outcome, particularly for a nation with relatively high gun ownership. Prime Minister Anutin also vowed to propose a new firearms control law to address the issue, aiming to create a safer environment for citizens.
