Car lifting and mobile phone snatching incidents increase manifold in ICT

ISLAMABAD - Over the course of a single week, a surge in criminal activities was observed in the federal capital, with a total of 50 reported incidents spanning various crimes. Among these, 31 were carjacking cases, six involved street crimes such as snatching of mobile phones and cash at gunpoint, and ten were theft cases encompassing robberies. The majority of these criminal activities were concentrated in the police jurisdictions of Ramana, Khanna, Hummak, Barakau, and Aabpara.

A total of 33 vehicles were stolen during this period, including one car and 32 motorbikes. One particularly alarming incident occurred in Sector G-11/1, where two armed robbers on a bike targeted a woman walking on the street. Surveillance footage captured the culprits approaching the victim before stealing her purse and making a swift getaway.

The victim sustained injuries after falling onto the road during the robbery, losing cash, important documents, and other personal belongings. The stolen items were never recovered.

Tragically, a woman named Hina, aged 40 and the wife of Inayat-ur-Rehman, was discovered dead in a depression near Golra Railway Station. Belonging to the Golra Police Station jurisdiction, Hina's death marked a somber moment in the ongoing series of criminal incidents. In the same timeframe, Ramana Police Station registered three cases of auto theft, one robbery, and one street crime.

Khanna Police Station dealt with two car thefts, one street crime, and one robbery. Hummak Police Station logged four cases of auto theft, while Tarnol, Noon, and Koral Police Stations each reported one auto theft case and one each of robbery and street crime.
