Bantema NPP Chairman snubs MP at constituency executive election re-run

At the re-run of the Bantema constituency executive election, an incident at the Kumasi Culture Centre stirred tension. Incumbent NPP Chairman Fiifi Mensah allegedly snubbed area Member of Parliament Francis Asenso-Boakye during a greeting exchange, according to a video shared on social media. As Mr. Mensah moved between voting centers, he bypassed Mr. Asenso-Boakye without acknowledging him.

Eyewitnesses reported murmurs among delegates, deeming the Chairman's action unfortunate due to the need for unity before future elections. Both party leaders were present for the supervised election by the Electoral Commission and representatives from the regional and national executives. Currently, neither Mensah nor Asenso-Boakye have commented publicly on the incident.

Sources suggest that the constituency Vice Chairman, Kingsley Atta, is being backed by the MP to challenge the incumbent Chairman in a potential internal contest.
