USA to host Joshua vs Fury match

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury's highly anticipated Battle of Britain fight is set to take place in the United States, with Madison Square Garden in New York as the leading candidate for the venue, according to reports. This decision is primarily driven by Netflix's involvement in the negotiations, which steered the fight away from the United Kingdom.

Sports Illustrated reporter Chris Mannix stated that the fight is "almost certain" to happen stateside, with a potential date of November 20, chosen to avoid conflicts with American college football coverage.

Both fighters have returned to winning ways recently, with Fury defeating Mariusz Wach in Thailand and Joshua overcoming a tough start to knock out Kristian Prenga in Jeddah. The fight's purse is estimated to be over £100 million. Promoter Eddie Hearn, however, has maintained that the contract with Joshua stipulates the bout must take place in the United Kingdom. Turki Alalshikh, a key figure in the negotiations, favors a US venue to maximize the fight's American television audience.

Despite the potential venue shift, there has been criticism from fans on both sides of the Atlantic, arguing that the fight, more than a decade in the making, belongs at Wembley Stadium. Mannix expressed that the decision is a "snub" of British boxing supporters, attributing it to the financial aspects of the arrangement. Joshua's former training partner, Richard Riakporhe, revealed that the two-time world champion had been preparing for a Fury fight for five years, after previous attempts to arrange the bout twice failed.

A confirmed date and venue are yet to be officially announced, with discussions still ongoing between the promoters and broadcasters.
