Since when do allocations go to MPs, asks Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently dismissed allegations that the Malaysian government is restricting development funds to specific MPs, instead emphasizing that financial resources are directed directly to the public rather than through elected officials. According to a report by Berita Harian, Anwar stated that if a constituency received funding, the allocation would go to schools, mosques, or drain repairs, among other public projects.

When asked, "Since when do we have to give it to MPs?" he questioned the necessity of giving funds to MPs, highlighting the need for allocations to reach the people directly. Anwar made these remarks after Friday prayers at Masjid Ar-Rasyidin in Alor Gajah. This denial comes in response to claims from Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail, who joined a list of PKR MPs, including Lee Chean Chung and Subang MP Wong Chen, who have reportedly lost access to the MyKhas portal, the system responsible for managing special constituency funding.

Anwar reiterated that this policy of direct funding to institutions, rather than through MPs, is not new, stating that all MPs are aware of it. He emphasized that the primary concern should be whether the funds reach the people or the MPs, asserting that there is no restriction and the allocation must reach the people.
