Detroit Lions Pro Bowl running back Jahmyr Gibbs has finally secured the contract he desired after enduring a stressful negotiation process. The three-year deal, signed on Thursday, is valued at $67.5 million, with the potential to reach $75.75 million through incentives. This contract surpasses the agreement Bijan Robinson signed with Atlanta earlier in the week and makes Gibbs the highest-paid running back in NFL history.

Gibbs expressed his relief in a statement, noting that the extension allowed him to focus on playing rather than worrying about the contract negotiations.

Since joining the Detroit Lions as the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Gibbs has demonstrated remarkable productivity, ranking among the top running backs in the league. Over the past three seasons, he has scored 49 total touchdowns, surpassing the previous record of 47 set by Hall of Famer Barry Sanders. His impressive stats include 1,839 yards from scrimmage, 1,839 yards on the ground, and 616 receiving yards, with 18 total touchdowns.

Gibbs has consistently improved each year, with career-highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches in recent seasons.
