Lions GM Brad Holmes comments on Jahmyr Gibbs contract negotiations

Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been a focal point during the team's training camp, with contract negotiations for a long-term extension dominating headlines. SiriusXM's NFL training camp tour featured a conversation between Jacob Hester, Pat Kirwan, and Lions' General Manager Brad Holmes on "Movin' the Chains" where the status of these negotiations was discussed.

When asked about the current state of the contract talks, Holmes replied, "We're having dialogue, we'll see where it goes." He emphasized the team's belief in Gibbs, stating, "Yeah, you know, look, I can only say obviously we love Jahmyr. Me and Dan have always been believers in that one-two punch."

Lions head coach Dan Campbell has been optimistic about resolving the contract dispute, asserting, "It'll get done. It's going to get done. I'm not even sweating it." Gibbs, known for his NFL-record 49 touchdowns in his first three seasons, and his performance with 3,580 rushing yards and 1,449 receiving yards, has added urgency to the negotiations as the 2026 season approaches.
