It’s disbelief, it’s shock’: Vice President reflects on fatal helicopter crash

Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has shared her emotional response to the fatal helicopter crash that claimed several senior government officials' lives. The Vice President described the moment she was informed of the tragedy as one of disbelief and shock, and the subsequent hours as a period of trying to maintain composure amid the national sorrow.

She emphasized the immense difficulty of the task, especially for the families of the deceased, noting the loss of a child had made the situation particularly hard. In an interview on The KSM Show, Professor Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged that while accidents happen, the scale of this tragedy made it especially challenging to process.

She recounted that just before learning of the crash, she had met with President John Dramani Mahama to discuss the Women’s Development Bank proposal. Upon returning home, she was confronted with the devastating news within an hour. Her initial reaction was one of overwhelming disbelief, describing a cocktail of emotions. Despite the emotional impact, she stressed the necessity of maintaining calm and immediate focus on addressing the crisis.
