Thursday BP: Injury updates galore

On Tuesday, the San Francisco Giants unveiled an array of injury updates that have significantly impacted their roster. Among the most concerning news was that of outfielder Matt Chapman, who received an MRI revealing a core muscle injury. The prospect of surgery and the potential end to his season loom large. Victor Bericoto, earmarked to replace Heliot Ramos should he recover, began a rehab stint in AAA on Wednesday.

Marcelo Mayer, the new addition to the team, also arrived on Wednesday, awaiting an evaluation. Jesús Rodríguez, who has been diligently rehabbing his elbow at home, will undergo another evaluation at week's end. Joel Peguero, who threw a live batting practice on Tuesday, has shown promise and might return before the season concludes.

Jose Buttó, despite efforts to pitch, has been limited to flat ground work, with up to 120 feet being thrown. His chances of returning this year appear slim. Matt Gage, who has avoided surgery, has been throwing on flat ground, but his progress is uncertain as he continues to throw up to 60 feet. Trevor McDonald and Casey Schmitt, on the other hand, are out for the entirety of the season. McDonald recently underwent Tommy John surgery.
