Telangana CM to launch new ration cards distribution on August 15

The Telangana Government plans to launch the distribution of 1.05 crore laminated Public Distribution System Ration Cards on August 15, 2026, coinciding with Independence Day. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially initiate the distribution in Sangareddy, with simultaneous rollout across 119 Assembly constituencies. The old cards, bearing names and family photos of beneficiaries, will be replaced with new cards featuring identification numbers and QR codes for online access to beneficiary details.

The size of these new cards will be similar to debit cards, allowing for easy storage in wallets. While the new cards will replace the existing ones, the quantity of food grains distributed remains unchanged. Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has instructed officials to finalize and verify the beneficiary list by constituency, arrange for registration, verification, and orderly distribution to recipients.

This initiative, highlighted by officials, represents a significant welfare measure to bolster food security and extend the benefits of the Public Distribution System to all newly eligible families. Currently, food grain allocation for a three-month period (August, September, and October) is being distributed through ration shops.
