PN yakin pertindihan kerusi dengan BN di Melaka dapat diselesaikan

Presiden PAS, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, expressed confidence that the disagreement over seats between the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Melaka can be resolved. He emphasized that the most important aspect is the continued cooperation between BN and PN for the PRN Melaka. Tuan Ibrahim stated this while referring to the understanding achieved by both blocs in PRN Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

He added that they should not allow a single or two seats to hinder this cooperation. In the recent PRN Johor, PN asked its supporters to support BN in areas not contested by the bloc. In PRN Negeri Sembilan on August 1st, PN and BN had an understanding not to contest each other. Earlier, Syaza Shukri from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia informed FMT that PN might demand at least half of the 28 parliamentary seats to be contested in the upcoming PRN Melaka.

This demand would largely depend on PN's success in winning three parliamentary seats in Melaka during the 2022 general elections (GE15). BN failed to win any parliamentary seat in Melaka during GE15, although it won a landslide victory in the state assembly elections a year before. PN won only two parliamentary seats in the last PRN.

PN recently clarified that the cooperation between BN and PN in PRN Melaka might be different from the understanding in Negeri Sembilan, depending on the local political developments. In response, the Pengerusi BN Melaka, Ab Rauf Yusoh, said the bloc is willing to consider cooperation with any party through the BN-Plus formula, but noted that discussions may not necessarily lead to agreement.
