Bose's new QuietComfort headphones get premium upgrades for a midrange price

Bose has released an upgraded version of its QuietComfort Headphones, offering premium upgrades at a midrange price point. The second-gen QuietComfort Headphones, priced at $359, feature several enhancements that were previously only available in the premium QuietComfort Ultra Headphones. These upgrades include USB-C audio, allowing users to listen in 24-bit/48kHz lossless resolution and charge the headphones simultaneously.

The headphones also retain a 3.5mm jack for analog systems like CD players and airplane infotainment systems.

Bose has incorporated its proprietary spatial audio rendering technology, Immersive Audio, into the second-gen QuietComfort Headphones. This technology offers Still, Motion, and Cinema modes using TrueSpatial technology to provide an appropriate spatial audio experience for various types of media. The headphones also feature improved noise-canceling capabilities, with two additional microphones and upgraded adaptive feedforward performance, adaptive noise cancellation, improved voice isolation, and the ability to turn off noise cancellation altogether.

The QuietComfort Headphones' design has seen minor changes, with smoother headband adjusters, a synthetic leather headband pad, oval-shaped earcups, and more relaxed clamping force. The headphones are available in Black and White Smoke, as well as three limited-edition colors: Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve. Preorders for the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) will begin on August 8.
