2027: We will not bow to intimidation, Adeleke vows

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, running as the Accord Party candidate, has vowed to stand firm against any intimidation attempts in the upcoming gubernatorial election. In a series of tweets, Adeleke emphasized his administration's commitment to resisting provocations and managing state resources effectively for the betterment of the people.

Adeleke expressed gratitude to the party loyalists in Ayedaade Local Government Area, where his campaign team received a warm welcome. He highlighted the crowd's excitement as a sign of the people's unwavering resolve and support for his continuity agenda. The governor made it clear that his administration will not be deterred by any form of intimidation, whether it arises from external sources or within the state.

Adeleke underscored the achievements of his government, stating that the record speaks for itself. Development projects, people-centric policies, and prudent management of public funds have been the hallmarks of his administration. He urged his supporters to maintain peace and vigilance as the election approaches, emphasizing that unity, discipline, and a high voter turnout are the best responses to any form of intimidation.

The Nigerian Bar Association had criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for freezing the Osun State Government's bank account, arguing that the agency lacks constitutional power to impose such restrictions without proper legal process. The EFCC directed the state government not to withdraw funds from its statutory allocation account as part of an ongoing investigation.

However, the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, dismissed the allegations of financial misconduct, alleging that the EFCC was acting on the directive of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to hinder the payment of palliatives to workers.

The Osun governorship election is slated for August 15, with Adeleke seeking a second term under the Accord Party platform.
